I wanted this show to be different; I pulled a guy off the street, John M. Williams Jr., and said “want to go on the radio?” – he obliged and it helped me out as a guest had to cancel – so it was a win-win for us.
I am of the mindset that everyone has a story and no person is too minor to be highlighted for their life; where they’ve been and where they are going. By interviewing Mr. Williams we learned parenting tips, business tips, advice on volunteering and in general, he was a great man – if you are in Chester County or Philadelphia, he can be reached at topcatwc@hotmail.com for notary services and, he owns property near Temple University.
Then, we had two powerhouses behind ChesterCountyMoms.com, Sarah Beck Fremoyer and Shannon Ott; their bios and info are outlined below, but let me preface that these women were incredibly inspiring and powerhouses! Lest no one state that a mom is one-dimensional or can’t wear many hats. Unlike the corporate world with breaks and lunch and support help, a mom often does it all, without much glory or break – these women developed an idea, put it into action and are soon coming on their one year anniversary with much success!
***Sarah is orginally from Smithton, PA, a picture perfect, teeny-tiny town along
the Youghiogheny River. Her family packed up and headed east when she was
twelve, and the Philadelphia ‘burbs is where she calls home. Sarah is a long
time resident of Chester County, mother of two and a self proclaimed
“blog-a-holic”. After a long career in sales & finance management, Sarah
“retired” from the business world to stay at home with her children and started
blogging in 2007 after the birth of her second child as a way to stay connected
to family and friends spread out throughout the United States. Merging her new
life of “Mommyhood” with her sales expertise, in the summer of 2008, Sarah
launched Chester County Moms (http://www.facebook.com/l/;chestercountymoms.com),
a regional “Mommy Blog” for women living in Chester County where moms can find
information on local events, activities, products and fun places to go with
their kiddos. In October 2008, Sarah and the Chesco Mommy Bloggers participated
in the GM Ride & Drive to the Blog Her Reach Out Tour in Boston. In May of 2009,
Sarah appeared alongside her friend and fellow Savvy Grouse Blogger, Shannon Ott
on a local ABC segment on the influence of Mommy Bloggers. In June 2009, Sarah
and Shannon, launched Montco Moms (http://www.facebook.com/l/;montcomoms.com), a
regional blog for moms in Montgomery County. Sarah is a Social Media
Consultant, Cookie Magazine “Queen Bee” blogger, member of The Philly Mommy
Bloggers and the Organizer of The Chester County Mommy Bloggers. When not
blogging, Sarah enjoys crafting, traveling, shopping, surfing the ‘net and
spending time with her husband, children and their dog Duke. Sarah is an
assistant organizer of The Chester County Playgroup, The Chester County Moms
Night Out Group and The Greater Philadelphia Boston Terrier Club.

Shannon Ott Bio
Shannon was born and raised in suburban Philadelphia to two true Philadelphians!
There are Philly cheesesteaks and soft pretzels running through my veins.
Shannon is currently residing in Chester County and is a mom to 2 beautiful
girls. She came to Chester County as an undergrad at West Chester University and
fell in love with the area. She decided to stay in the region when she started
her career in Project Management and eventually obtained her MBA from Penn State
Great Valley. Shannon loves to travel with her husband, who is a fellow
Pennsylvanian, and children and explore all that this fine state has to offer!

The blogging bug bit Shannon in early 2008 as a way to keep her friends and
family updated on her childrens’ lives. Soon after, Shannon became a regular
contributor and then “Mom”-ager of http://www.facebook.com/l/;ChesterCountyMoms.com,
a regional “Mommy Blog” for women living in Chester County, thanks to her friend
(and fellow Savvy Grouse blogger) Sarah Freymoyer. In October 2008, Shannon and
her fellow Chester County Mommy Bloggers participated in a GM Ride & Drive to
the BlogHer Reach Out Tour in Boston. In May 2009, Shannon and Sarah appeared
on a local ABC segment on the influence of Mommy Bloggers. Following the great
success of http://www.facebook.com/l/;ChesterCountyMoms.com, Shannon and Sarah
launched http://www.facebook.com/l/;MontcoMom.com, a regional blog for moms in
Montgomery County in June 2009. Shannon is a member of both The Chester County
Mommy Bloggers and The Philly Mommy Bloggers, is a Kiwi Magazine Ambassador, and
is a bit of a social media junkie. When not blogging, facebooking or twittering,
Shannon loves to spend time with her husband and daughters camping, hiking and
enjoying the fresh air. Shannon is passionate about going green, organic eating
and the environment. She feels going green is something that can be done by
everyone in small steps through education and dedication

BETHENNY FRANKEL: nuff said. She’s amazing, not a phony and no-nonsense with the twist of glam, caring and heart. A true star in both celebrity realms and in ethical humanitarianism.
Her site, http://www.bethenny.com can direct you to a myriad options from recipes, to photos and video, to her skinnygirlcocktails.com (available for preorder now) and her best selling book, “Naturally Thin”.
I want to again interject that one need not be looking to “lose weight” for this book; this book is about being naturally healthy and eating for fuel without sacrificing the luxury of food on many levels. As I mentioned on air, I wholeheartedly consider Ms. Frankel a woman who is not just bringing great ideas to the surface but is redefining health in a way that is unlike any other fitness, diet or health professional; and that reason? NO gimmicks! What an idea! She is together, is open her past and her challenges to get where she is right now, and is on a mission to help others… if Oprah would only listen (sigh).
A great show, with great people. Like I say always, I really am blessed to be surrounded by great, positive people, family and friends and know that everyone has a story – I love when people share theirs.
Fondly,
Michele Paiva

We touched on topics that include discussion on what is happening in the news; and a little debate here and there…. however, Debt Management was the topic of the day thanks to professional CPA, Joe Pancerella, and managing partner of Pancerella and Associates (http://www.pancerellacpa.com).
Some of the highlights that Pancerella helped unravel for callers and listeners were budgeting, “It’s not what you earn, it’s what you spend”, and steps to establish a budget.
He went on to outline how it is crucial to define goals, identify income and expenses, evaluate your budget and monitor on a regular basis all of the above.
Some tips he shared included:
1. Involve the entire family
2. Stay disciplined
3. Start when easy to follow
4. Consider software
5. Build rewards (dining out every other week, etc)
6. Avoid credit cards
7. Education vs Retirement
He also wanted to stress new credit card regulations such as limited interest rates and reasonable time to pay.

One highlight that helped “spread the wealth” both financially and motivationally, is his company sponsored tickets to the Reading Phillies Games upcoming in July!

A few callers won tickets and those who were not local donated.

We had a call from local resident, Brighid DeGaray, who will be using her won tickets courtesy of Pancerella and Associates as part of a fundraiser in the 2009 Susan G. Komen Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. Our Team, the BraveHart’s was started by Gretchen Flack to honor a co-worker and wonderful friend: Leann Hart, with the BraveHart name a play on Leann’s name and the word “heart”.

“Leann was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August of 2007. Since then, she has undergone a double mastectomy, 4 months of chemotherapy, and 38 radiation treatments to beat this disease. By the time the 2009 Philly walk rolls around, she should also be finished with her reconstruction surgeries. Seeing what she had to endure put a drive and determination in me to do all I can to make sure another friend, family member or even myself does not have to battle breast cancer,” said DeGaray.

The BraveHarts will be hosting a fundraiser on June 20th at 5 PM until 11 PM at the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, in Malvern PA.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for Seniors and children under 12 are free.
Ticket includes dinner provided by Chick-Fil-A, Q’doba & Cupcakes Gourmet! BYOB! the Silent Auction and an outdoor concert by Nate Graham. Graham has opened for Bon Jovi and is a talented musician in his own right!
Some of the silent auction items are:
Large handmade Amish quilt & quilt rack
Oriental rug
Mountain Bike
Phillies tickets
Reading Phillies Tickets
Autographed Flyers stick & puck
Free night’s stay at the General Warren’s Inne
Over 20 different gift baskets
Tons of door prizes!

The Breast Cancer 3-Day is a 60-mile walk over the course of three days. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

In whole, the show drew callers who spoke of the spirituality of “desire” and money, and being happy with what we have, to helping those who have not. It wasn’t just about budgeting but about living and living in peace, and helping people overcome hardship, be it financial or health.

Joseph Pancerella is available to consult, so please visit his site, and get to know this generous office; and please get involved with Brighid and the BraveHarts in their quest to help and do their part, for a national and international cause.

Oddly, we had one guest not be able to make it in the studio and one was not able to call in, but in whole, it all worked out and was “meant to be” as we were able to tie the entire show in with incredible purpose.

Thank you all for taking the time to listen and interact on facebook (we had facebook up on my page), through calls and numerous emails.

Next week: Celebs include Comcast’s Lynn Doyle and New York Housewives Bethenny Frankel, who is also a top selling author of “Naturally Thin” and owner of “Bethenny Bakes”, in addition to other fantastic guests.
